A colourful A1-sized poster ‘Get to Know Birds of Latvia III’, featuring the forest, field and bog bird species found in Latvia, with illustrations and the Latvian and Latin names for each species.
Around 380 species of birds are known in Latvia; however, only two-thirds of this total regularly nest, overwinter or pass through here. The rest happen to stray here by chance during their migration or foraging. The publication ‘Get to Know Birds of Latvia’ examines native birds, including rare species that are not seen every year. Latvia’s landscapes – its forests, fields and marshes – are characterised by a great diversity of birds. The main groups of these birds (excluding small songbirds) are covered in this publication: partridges, grouses, capercaillies, pigeons, doves, woodpeckers, storks and others. These include such rarities as the hoopoe, the European roller and the European bee-eater. In environments interspersed with overgrown water bodies, it is possible to spot bitterns and crakes.
Discover the birds of Latvia’s forests, fields and marshes!
