The Rift's frame is made from a stable thermoplastic elastomer, the lenses are polycarbonate with an anti-scratch coating. So even if your Rift falls to the ground during a bike ride to the ice cream shop, the world will keep on turning. To prevent this from happening in the first place, the nose pads are individually adjustable and the temple tips are rubberised. This ensures the Rift sits comfortably and securely on your head.
